The North Penn School District board voted to accept the immediate resignation of Director Doctor G after the board amended the agenda to add the item and opened a short public-comment period.
Doctor G, who said she had served the district for eight years, cited a need to recommit to professional and personal responsibilities and praised district staff and leadership. "Serving this community has been one of the greatest honors of my 27-year career in public education," she said.
Public commenters included Doctor G's husband, who thanked the board on the family's behalf, and Aaron Blanc of Hatfield, who said he submitted his name to be considered for the replacement. The board reopened the audience of citizens specifically to hear comments on the proposed agenda addition and the resignation.
After public comment the board moved, seconded and accepted Doctor G's resignation by voice vote. A board member noted that state rules require the board to fill the vacancy within 30 days; the board said it will post the vacancy announcement and the application/replacement process to the district website and notify local media once details are finalized.
Board members offered public thanks and tributes to Doctor G for years of service. The board recorded no detailed roll-call tallies for the voice vote in the public transcript; the presiding officer announced the motion carried.
