Gahanna — At its Dec. 1 meeting, the Gahanna City Council adopted multiple items by roll-call vote, approving a consent agenda that included an ordinance on utility rates, adopting Resolution 56-2025 (an agreement with the Community Improvement Corporation for calendar year 2026), and adopting Ordinance 52-2025, authorizing a contract with Tyveco Inc. for replacement of decking on the Big Walnut Trail Bridge.
The consent agenda motion to approve as published passed on a roll call after a motion first made by Councilmember Renner and seconded by Vice President Trenton Weaver; the clerk recorded unanimous “yes” votes from Renner, Weaver, Jones, MacGregor, Padova, Schnetzer and Bowers. Ordinance 51-2025 (utility rates; amendments to Part 9, Title 3 of the Gahanna Codified Ordinances) was included on that consent agenda and thereby adopted.
Council then adopted Resolution 56-2025 authorizing the mayor to enter into a 2026 agreement with the Community Improvement Corporation. The motion was first by Renner and seconded by Padova. Vice President Trenton Weaver asked whether the city attorney had reviewed the redline from last week’s committee meeting; City Attorney Tamela Arisen replied, “Yes, I am and I approve.” The resolution passed on a roll-call vote.
Later, council considered Ordinance 52-2025, which waives formal bidding under Gahanna Code §133.02(c)(6) and authorizes a contract with Tyveco Inc. for replacement of the Big Walnut Trail Bridge decking. Council voted to suspend rules and waive second reading and then adopted the ordinance after a roll-call vote. The president noted the ordinance was updated to reflect the contractor recommended by the administration; the item had appeared in committee earlier without an identified contractor.
Vote tabulation (as recorded on the record): votes on these items were recorded as unanimous “yes” among the members listed on the roll at the time of the votes.
What’s next: Ordinance 52 will be implemented under the contract with Tyveco Inc.; Resolution 56 establishes the mayor’s authority to execute the CIC agreement for the 2026 term.
