The Village of East Troy trustees on Dec. 1 recommended approval of the final design for a five‑foot concrete sidewalk on the south side of Main Street from the square east to the Overlook Ridge development.

Jason, presenting the design, said staff met with affected property owners and incorporated a return on a recently constructed retaining wall at 2037 Main to make the new sidewalk fit the site. He said the retaining‑wall repair cost to the village is likely "in the 2 to $3,000 range." The design includes concrete driveway approaches at the sidewalk tie‑ins, and staff recommended concrete where property owners requested it.

Trustees discussed lighting and concluded decorative lighting is not cost‑effective given existing street lights and wooden utility poles; they also heard the corridor will see minimal traffic disruptions during construction. Trustee 6 moved to recommend approving the design from Lynch; the motion was seconded and carried.

The board asked staff to return with a county right‑of‑way agreement and to show a line item for the retaining wall in the construction bid. Staff said they expect to bid the project after Jan. 1 with construction in the 2026 season.
