Mayor Johnny Garcia announced the city’s Veterans Resource Center has been open for three years and displayed mockups for a proposed Purple Heart monument to honor community members wounded or killed in combat.

Assemblymember Lisa Calderón urged attention to veterans’ benefits and pay, saying, "They deserve their pay. Their families deserve to be able to put food on the table."

Point Man International Ministries pastor Rudy Aguirre described his group’s support for veterans with PTSD and said, "The word of God heals." The program concluded with a roll call of dozens of local veterans and a final performance of "God Bless America."
