The Madison Historic District Board of Review approved an application from John Sherry to replace five front-facing single-pane windows at 1063 West Main with new insulated windows designed to replicate the historic 4-over-4 sash pattern.

Sherry told the board the existing single-pane windows were not original and that he intends to use windows resembling the historic 4-over-4 look once siding work is complete. "I will intend, if I get approval to do that, to put back windows with 4 over 4 sashes ... to replicate the appearance" (SEG 652–655). Staff noted the property is a contributing structure (c.1860) and recommended the board ask the applicant to supply brand and part numbers before final sign-off; one board member suggested repair options for existing windows as an alternative to wholesale replacement.

After discussion about the age and condition of the existing windows and the possibility of using wood or wood-clad windows on the Main Street facade, a motion to approve the application was moved and seconded (SEG 1132–1136). The board recorded a majority vote in favor with at least two recorded disapprovals (SEG 1145–1151). The board asked staff to review final product specifications prior to permit issuance.
