The Delaware County Stormwater Board voted Dec. 1 to adopt Resolution 2025-14 to acquire a used Timco regenerative air street sweeper from the Muncie Sanitary District for $20,000.
The presiding speaker told the board the machine “does have the brushes and the system that would be beneficial for us to do our bridge surfaces, including the gutters,” and noted the unit shows about 63,033 engine miles and nearly 7,000 hours on the pony motor. A board member moved to adopt the resolution; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
Board members characterized the purchase as an opportunity to obtain specialized equipment at a fraction of the cost of a new machine. The presiding speaker said a comparable new unit would cost close to $400,000 if it were natural gas powered; the used unit’s lower price was cited as the primary rationale for approval.
The board did not identify any financing changes or additional appropriations during the vote. The resolution was described as a complement to a similarly numbered action approved earlier in the county commissioners’ meeting. The board did not record individual roll-call names in the minutes beyond the assembly’s unanimous voice vote.
Next steps: staff will coordinate acquisition and transfer with the Muncie Sanitary District and follow the board’s usual equipment intake procedures.
