DOLTON, Ill. — Trustees received monthly public-safety reports at the Dec. 1, 2025, meeting and were introduced to the village’s new finance director.
A trustee read a police report attributed to Police Chief Chapman that said the Dolton Police Department responded to 1,713 calls for service in November 2025. The report listed enforcement figures including 216 parking tickets, 123 state tickets, 5,162 red light tickets, three felony arrests, 53 misdemeanor arrests and two warrants issued. "The police department responded to 1,713 calls for service," the trustee read from the report.
A separate report attributed to Fire Chief Curtis listed 524 total calls for service for November, including 25 fire alarms, 29 motor vehicle accidents, nine structural fires, five smoke investigations, 18 hazardous or carbon monoxide calls, two electrical/wire problems, one technical rescue, 24 auto-aid responses to other communities, 404 EMS calls, three citizen assists and four gas leaks. "Total calls for service for the month of November was 524," the trustee read.
Trustee Belcher told the board the village did not have a formal finance report that night but introduced Yaneeka Bryant as the new finance director and thanked Miss Bowens for her work. "I would like to welcome miss Yaneeka Bryant, who is our new finance director," the trustee said. Belcher added that the village is "gradually getting a finance department" and said officials are moving toward taking more direct control of village finances.
Earlier in the meeting an unidentified speaker said they had met with the village administrator to review an unspecified plan that the administrator would submit to the mayor for approval, and that a January 2026 rollout was being considered if the mayor agreed. The meeting transcript provided for this segment does not show any formal motions or votes on those items.
The reports and introductions came during regular reporting by trustees and committees; trustees noted the finance and police & fire committee had met on Nov. 17, 2025, and that committee meetings are opportunities to ask detailed questions about department finances and operations.
The village did not provide additional detail in the transcript about the apparent discrepancy between the number of calls for service and the large count listed for red-light tickets; the figures above reflect what was read into the record and may be subject to departmental clarification or correction.
