Council members praise redirecting funds to Lots to Love housing program

President Russell Yale said he "applaud[ed] the mayor for recommitting resources to Southeast Fort Wayne instead of paying for this less important interstate sign," adding he supports bringing the full repurposing appropriation from LIT funding "as soon as possible." Council members said the Lots to Love program is citywide, helps small developers build housing and increases the tax base; one member said most Lots to Love parcels are in Southeast Fort Wayne but the program is not exclusive to that area.
No formal ordinance action on the repurposing was recorded at the meeting; the council adopted the agenda after the withdrawal was announced and discussion was framed as support for the administration's redirection.
Members asked the administration to restore gaps in the Southeast partnership plan that the member said had lost funding.
