At its Nov. 18 meeting, the Anderson City Board of Works approved a series of administrative actions across municipal development, water pollution control and city claims.
Municipal development: The building commissioner (first speaking at SEG 223) requested award of multiple demolition jobs to the lowest responsive bidders. The board approved awards of six properties to Fredericks Inc., three properties to Schwoyer Solutions (transcript later uses the variant "Shroyer"), and three properties to Yarberry Excavating (transcript also used the variant "Yarborough"). Property addresses and the bid amounts were read into the record. A board member asked whether the city normally limits the number of demolitions per contract; staff said they were advised they were not legally allowed to impose that limit and would move to the next bidder only if the contractor could not keep up with the work.
Water pollution control: The department requested approval of Change Order No. 7 for Atlas Excavating for work on Interceptor Phase 2B; staff said the change order reduces the contract price by $34,768.07. The board approved the change order by voice vote.
Claims: The city clerk/finance read department claim subtotals — City: $1,352,188.84; Light & Power: $6,000,830.59; Water department: $610,086.99; Water Pollution: $392,374.04; Stormwater: $17,248.87 — and a total of $9,202,758.27. The board approved the claims as submitted. The meeting adjourned after a motion to adjourn.
Several contractor and company names were recorded inconsistently in the transcript; the board’s approvals were procedural and will be followed by contract administration steps to finalize award paperwork and schedules.
