The City of Goshen Board of Public Works and Safety voted unanimously Oct. 16 to award a paving contract for Parking Lot Q to RNR Asphalt LLC for $40,655.
Dustin Saylor, director of public works and utilities, told the board the work is job number 20230024 and that the engineering department solicited quotes for the paving portion of the project. "R and R Asphalt offered a quote for $40,655," Saylor said, and engineering recommended awarding the contract to the lowest responsive bidder.
Saylor read the bids aloud: 5 Star Silk Coat (no quote); Milestone Construction (no quote); Nibloc Excavating (no quote); R and R Asphalt ($40,655); Reef Rally Construction ($66,450); Waltz Paving ($42,500). After brief board discussion, a motion to award the contract to RNR Asphalt LLC in the amount of $40,655 was made and seconded; the board voted "Aye," and the motion passed unanimously.
The motion authorized the mayor to execute the contract, and Saylor said the city wants the work paid this year. No public comment or opposition was recorded at the meeting.
The contract covers paving for Parking Lot Q, the new lot the city acquired north of Clinton Street (job number 20230024). The board did not discuss a construction timeline at the meeting; execution by the mayor and scheduling are next steps.
