The Board of Public Works and Safety approved requested street closures for the Richmond veterans parade at its Oct. 23 meeting.
Aaron Stevens, administrative resource officer with the Richmond Police Department, told the board the parade is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 8, starting at 12 p.m., with streets closed from 12 p.m. for the parade and from 7 a.m. to allow units to line up. Stevens listed streets requested for closure including the intersections at 13th and East Main, 12th and East Main from North A Street to South A Street, and East Main Street between 13th and 14th, with the parade ending near 5th and East Main. The board voted to approve the closures by voice vote.
Stevens asked the board to approve renewals of handicap parking signage at two addresses earlier in the meeting after visual inspection; the board approved those renewals as presented.
The city will implement usual traffic-control procedures for the event and coordinate with public-safety staff; the board did not set additional special conditions in the meeting record.
