The Kingsburg Downtown Business Improvement District advisory board voted Dec. 2 to share the $600 fee for a downtown Santa visit, approving a $300 payment to the chamber to cover the BID’s portion.
Kevin Phillips, a board member who identified himself during the meeting, said, “Total cost for Santa is $600,” and moved that the BID pay $300 toward that total. The motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
The board also confirmed it is covering the full cost of the trolley that will run Saturdays downtown. Members asked staff to post specific times and promote Santa and trolley schedules on social media; one member suggested a short video reel or a photo op with Santa on the trolley.
There was discussion about the location of holiday displays. Phillips described confusion over whether a “hut” or a sleigh would be used downtown and said his team placed a sleigh at Larson’s Corner for Saturday appearances. Phillips said Santa "will be at the sleigh" on Larson’s Corner.
Board members raised a separate, longer-term item about trolley-stop signage and aesthetics and asked staff to bring cost estimates back as a budget item for future approval. The board set no new funding amount for permanent signage at the Dec. 2 meeting.
