Canton Township planning staff recommended and the commission approved a minor site‑plan amendment for Haggerty Mobile at 8773 Haggerty Road to add a 6‑by‑27‑foot cooler on the building’s west side. The Zoning Board of Appeals previously granted a front‑yard setback variance for the west side (Old Haggerty Road), which allowed the requested addition.
Staff conditions and rationale Staff asked for a revised plan sheet showing additional concrete north of the diesel pumps (to ensure fueling vehicles have sufficient paved maneuvering area) and removal of stone riprap south of the diesel pumps or replacement with appropriate paving so stormwater controls are maintained. Staff also required replacement of the corner sign at Haggerty and Joy Road consistent with Article 6A, and completion of minor outstanding inspection items from planning division site inspections.
Commission action The commission approved the site‑plan amendment and a modification to the 50% brick requirement (the combination of brick plus limestone meets the 50% material standard), subject to the three staff conditions above. Applicant representatives said the cooler is needed to complete operations and thanked staff and commissioners for their review.
