The MOLST Advisory Council convened and approved the November 4 meeting minutes before adopting a 2026 meeting schedule. Barbara Cass, senior adviser to the commissioner of the Department of Public Health for long-term care, called the meeting to order and administered procedural business including the vote.
Dr. Shapiro moved to set 2026 meetings for the first Tuesday of each month, 9:30–10:30 a.m., until the council revisits frequency; Jim Sussman seconded the motion. The council approved the schedule by voice vote; the chair stated she believed the vote was unanimous.
The schedule adoption matters because the council must post an annual public meeting schedule with the secretary of state; Cass said the group may deviate later but must publish a plan by January 1. "We are required to post the annual schedule with the secretary of state," Cass said, explaining the legal posting requirement for public meetings.
Members also approved the prior meeting minutes without amendment. The chair recorded appreciation for the council’s work this year and closed with holiday remarks before a motion to adjourn.
What’s next: The council will operate on the monthly schedule and revisit meeting frequency mid-year or once the MOLST modernization work reaches a milestone.
