Residents tell commission Timberlane Terrace development has recurring pond failures and unsafe road plans

Susan DeLucchi, a Spokane Valley resident who said she chaired the Boundary Review Board in 1988, described two stormwater-pond failures at the Timberlane Terrace development and asserted the county engineer recently signed off on final development work despite a 2006 hearing-examiner condition requiring corrections before finalization.
"The pond walls collapsed and nothing has been done this year to remediate the problem," DeLucchi said, and she raised concerns about cross-jurisdictional permitting where the pond sits inside city limits but the developer builds inside county jurisdiction.
Linda Klesh, a Ridgemont Estates resident, told the board a planned full public road connection at a 22% grade is dangerous for children, school buses and other users and said the route was intended to be a gated emergency access only.
Both speakers invited commissioners to a community meeting on January 8 at Spokane Valley City Hall where county and city staff and residents planned to discuss remediation and road-connection alternatives.
No formal county action on the Timberlane Terrace issues was taken during this meeting; the comments were filed during the open public forum.
