The Village Board of Cary approved its consent agenda during a brief meeting Tuesday evening and received staff updates about upcoming holiday events and local public‑works initiatives.
The meeting opened at 6:01 p.m. with a pledge of allegiance and a public comment period that drew no speakers. The mayor moved to approve the consent agenda — "items A through H as shown on the village website," the mayor said — and the motion was seconded and carried by roll call among members present. Walworth was recorded as absent.
Assistant Administrator Radcliffe told the board the village’s holiday parade and festival is set for Sunday, Dec. 7, from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m., with the parade scheduled to kick off at 1 p.m. Radcliffe said there will be road closures during the parade and asked for volunteers to help ring bells at Jewel on Dec. 13 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. "Just a friendly reminder," Radcliffe said, urging residents to watch the village calendar for closure details.
Director Noonan of Public Works outlined a holiday light recycling program, saying collection bins are in place at Village Hall and at Cary Fire Stations 1 and 2. "There’s the village implemented a holiday recycling program where existing bins ... will be collecting those recycled lights," Noonan said, and he encouraged residents to use the bins rather than disposing of lights in regular trash.
Noonan also invited the public to a Rotary Park open house on Thursday, Dec. 4, from 5 to 7 p.m. to provide feedback on potential park amenities the village may seek funding for under a future grant (the grant was referred to in the transcript as an "Auslan grant"). He reported that a contractor has mobilized at the park and noted portions of a path will be closed during construction.
Chief Finland reminded the board that an overnight parking restriction on all village streets took effect Dec. 1. Noonan added that the Cary Social District will close for the season on Dec. 15 and is scheduled to reopen March 1.
Board members praised staff work (one staffer, Mackenzie, was singled out for graphics support) and a trustee suggested forming a committee to invite community groups to decorate the Cary sign for holidays to deter vandalism and increase downtown engagement.
The board adjourned at 6:06 p.m.
