County staff urged the board to move quickly to advertise the project because INDOT’s requirements carry time-sensitive bid and contract deadlines. An official said, “Adams County was awarded $516,101.36,” and asked the board to authorize the county engineer to advertise the project for bids. Commissioners approved the request and directed staff to proceed with advertising.

The funding will be applied to the Bridge 142 rehabilitation project; county staff emphasized the competitive nature of INDOT grants this year and thanked local staff and partners for preparing the successful application. The board did not set a construction start date during the meeting; staff said the schedule will depend on responses to the advertisement, bid evaluation and INDOT’s contracting deadlines.

Next steps: staff will publish the bid advertisement, accept bids within INDOT’s timeline and return to the board with recommended contractors and contract documents for signature.
