The Paso Robles City Council approved a 14‑item consent calendar on Dec. 2 that included routine minutes and reports, several public‑works contracts and a two‑year extension for the downtown park holiday lighting display with Los Angeles Christmas Light Installers.
Chris Huot, the city manager, described consent items and said the staff would answer questions about the holiday lighting budget. Several members of the public urged council to renew the lighting program. "The holidays in Paso Robles have taken on an entirely new meaning with the lighting enhancements in the downtown park," Stacy Jacob, president and CEO of Travel Paso, said during public comment, urging council to renew the investment and highlighting tourism benefits.
Members of the public raised budget concerns and asked whether the city would cover costs if fundraising fell short. Staff said the city launched an active sponsorship campaign (about $10,000 raised to date from businesses) and that, if approved, the lighting expense would be programmed into future budgets. "We at this point have no reason to believe that we couldn't include it in future year budgets," City Manager Chris Huot said.
Council voted 5–0 to approve items 1–14. The consent calendar included other notable items announced on the warrant register: approximately $1,500,000 in payments since the last meeting, with four individual payments above $100,000 listed in the staff report.
