Pittsylvania County Planning Commission members unanimously recommended approval of four rezoning petitions at their Dec. 2 meeting.
Mister Arnold read the first petition, Case R-25-035, saying, “Charles Bodner has petitioned to rezone 2.75 acres located on State Road 642, Scott Jacobs Memorial Drive in the Stanton River election district from double zone (to) an A-1 agricultural district to allow for an additional accessory building.” Petitioner Charles Bodner was present and offered no further comment. Commissioner Farris moved to recommend approval; Miss Henderson seconded. The motion passed 4–0.
The commission then considered Case R-25-036, a petition by Joseph and Leanne Fish to rezone 0.14 acres on State Road 1539 (Ashworth Lane) in the Westover election district from A-1 agricultural to RC-1 residential combined-subdivision to consolidate the lot with an adjacent RC-1 property owned by James and Lisa Austis and allow a side-setback adjustment. The petitioner declined to add comments. A motion to recommend approval passed 4–0.
Case R-25-037 involved Annette Yates’s request to rezone 2.17 acres on State Road 680 (Church Road) in the Bannister election district from RC-1 to A-1 to permit placement of a manufactured home. Miss Henderson said she had received no calls or emails in opposition and moved to recommend approval; the motion passed 4–0.
Finally, Case R-25-038 — Ryland and Brenda Reynolds’s petition to rezone 2 acres off State Road 805 (Tomahawk Creek Road) in the Callons Retina election district from RC-1 to A-1 for consolidation with adjacent A-1 property — was presented. Commissioner Brown moved for approval and Miss Henderson seconded. The motion passed 4–0, and the chair closed the cases for the evening.
No public opposition was recorded on any petition in the meeting minutes or staff packet summaries distributed to the commission. The commission’s recommendations are advisory to the board of supervisors or board of zoning appeals, per the Pittsylvania County zoning ordinance. The county will record the board of supervisors’ final decisions in a subsequent meeting.
