The Milford City Council met Dec. 2 and took a series of routine actions before moving into a Committee of the Whole for a budget presentation.
Council approved a motion to excuse Councilmember Cooper from the meeting after a voice/roll-call vote; the council then approved the Nov. 18 meeting proceedings and adopted the October 2025 financial report. Roll-call responses recorded in the meeting show the members present voting in support of each motion.
City Manager Gunderson introduced Tara, who started the previous day as the city’s new assistant city manager and has already been assigned to budget work. Gunderson said Tara "has a wealth of experience" and welcomed her to the team.
Police Chief Bills presented holiday safety tips for residents, urging people to use automatic timers for lights, request vacation house checks through the police website or by phone, keep valuables out of sight, lock vehicles and be aware of surroundings when shopping. Chief Bills noted, "In the last year, 19 percent of people have reported having a package stolen," and highlighted the department’s Operation Holiday Patrol in shopping areas.
After the reports, the council moved into the Committee of the Whole by a recorded vote to begin a detailed budget discussion. No policy or ordinance votes were taken beyond the procedural motions and the financial-report adoption.
Next meeting steps: the Committee of the Whole will continue budget examination and staff said presentation materials are available in the council packet for public review.
