EDA approves 2026 meeting time change, hears TIF and housing updates; Chamber gives upcoming event notice

The EDA voted to set its 2026 regular meeting time to 6 p.m. on the first Monday of each month to align start times across city boards and commissions. The motion to adjust the standard meeting start time to 6 p.m. was made, seconded and approved by voice vote.
Staff also updated the body on recent council actions: the council authorized decertification of two tax increment financing districts — Cherrywood Point TIF, which will add an estimated just over $200,000 to the city’s tax capacity, and the Centennial District, which will add about $15,000; changes take effect in the pay year 2026. Abbey told members the county CDA will administer the city's local affordable housing funds and staff are preparing to transfer funds so the CDA can begin marketing rehabilitation loan programs.
Annette, representing the Forest Lake Area Chamber, said the Chamber hired a new employee, won an Arts in the Park award and is preparing Hometown Holiday on Bridal; she invited members to a local leaders meeting next Tuesday at 7:30 a.m.
