The Cabell County Board of Education voted to ratify paid administrative leave for two district employees after meeting in executive session to discuss personnel matters.

Superintendent Hardesty recommended that the board ratify the administrative leave of John Castlegren with pay beginning Oct. 15, 2025, and continue until a resolution is reached. The board moved and seconded the superintendent’s recommendation and approved the motion by voice vote.

Hardesty then recommended ratifying the administrative leave of Kevin Hughes with pay beginning Oct. 11, 2025, and continuing until resolved; the board again moved, seconded and approved the recommendation by voice vote.

Earlier in the meeting the board had moved into executive session to discuss personnel matters and later returned to open session before taking the ratification votes. The board also approved two student expulsions (agenda items 7.01 and 7.02) and related special award items by motion and voice vote.

Board members recorded their motions and the votes as voice 'Aye' with no roll-call tallies provided in the spoken record. The board adjourned at 5:48 p.m.
