The Florida Virtual School Board of Trustees approved publication of a set of proposed board policies and, after a publicly noticed hearing with no speakers, adopted the package of changes and a repeal to consolidate the policy manual.
Karen Chastain, deputy general counsel, summarized the package: "This agenda item proposes 9 policies for first reading," including three proposed new policies, five amendments (two reflecting current operations and three tied to 2025 legislative changes), and a repeal that would close out the FLVS legacy policy manual.
The chair opened a formal public hearing on agenda item 9.1, noting that public notice was provided in accordance with Florida law; the operator reported no callers on the line. After the hearing, a trustee moved to adopt the recommended actions and another seconded; the board approved the omnibus motion by voice vote and the chair announced the motion carries.
Trustees and staff characterized the package as an update to align operational practices with current operations and recent legislation. The board directed publication of the policy texts and notice of the hearing prior to adoption and completed the public hearing process at this meeting.
