The Superior Common Council adopted a resolution on Dec. 2 appropriating $36,082,088 for the operation of the general city budget for 2026 and authorizing a tax levy to be spread on the 2025 tax roll.

Before the vote, the presiding officer called attention to a typographical error in the resolution's title that referred to the year 2026; the body of the resolution correctly referenced 2025. The title was corrected by unanimous consent and the council adopted the resolution by voice vote.

Mayor Payne noted that the stormwater and wastewater budgets are complete and will be included on the next meeting agenda; he apologized for not circulating them during the short week before Thanksgiving.

The resolution was read and approved during the meeting; the clerk and finance staff will publish the adopted budget and follow the usual post-adoption publication steps.
