Council approves consent agenda, licenses, grant support and ordinance updates

At its Sept. 19 meeting the Common Council approved the consent agenda and a number of routine administrative items.
Approvals included miscellaneous licenses, a Class A beer and liquor/cider-only license for Nanik Petroleum Inc. at 311 Belknap Street, and the appointment of Casey Endsley as agent for a Dollar General location at 216 Belknap Street. The council also approved an amendment to the premise and a one-day cabaret for Dodge Easy Sand Tavern at 2114 East 5th Street. Motions were made and passed by voice votes.
On the amended agenda, the council approved a resolution from the Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department (Director Cadott) supporting a cost-share grant application to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. Councilors voted in favor by voice vote.
The council also approved an ordinance from the fire department repealing and recreating chapter 54 (automatic fire suppression systems and standpipes); Fire Chief Panger and councilors said the change mainly clarifies locations for fire department connections. Finally, the Public Works Department successfully advanced an amendment to the traffic code to remove disabled parking signs at 2123 John Avenue (both sides). All items passed by voice votes. With no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
