Simsbury selectmen reappoint legal counsel, set liaisons and decline to reauthorize business development committee

At the Dec. 4 meeting the Board of Selectmen approved several personnel and administrative items, including reappointments of outside counsel and a decision not to reauthorize one advisory committee.
The board reappointed the firm of Ford Harrison LLP as labor and pension counsel, Pullman and Connolly LLP as bond counsel, and Updike Kelly & Spellacy PC as town attorney for two‑year terms through Dec. 6, 2027. Acting Town Manager Tom Fitzgerald was authorized to execute engagement letters for those reappointments.
First Selectman Wendy McSudis announced liaison assignments to boards and commissions, including personnel, finance, planning, zoning and recreation roles; selectmen discussed workload and overlap across assignments.
Separately, the board voted to not reauthorize the Business Development Committee; the first selectman said the committee's functions are being reviewed as part of ongoing policy work and that an ad hoc group could be formed if needed.
