The Town of Needham Planning Board on Dec. 2 received an overview of a townwide parking requirements review from Stantec’s Urban Mobility Group aimed at bringing local zoning into line with low‑impact development practices and the town’s Climate Action goals. Michael Clark of Stantec said the study will expand a 2023 Center/Heights review to the entire community, evaluate baseline parking ratios, and propose redline edits to the zoning bylaw.
Clark told the board the 2023 Center/Heights analysis found that peak parking demand fell roughly 350–400 spaces below existing supply in those areas, and that current zoning could require as much as double the parking that exists today if every development…
