Paramount sets Nov. 18 public hearing to consider adopting 2025 California Building Code

Paramount — The City Council on Oct. 28 introduced ordinance 12‑08 to adopt the 2025 California Building Code by reference and set a public hearing for Nov. 18, 2025.

Planning and Building Director John King told the council the introduction was intended to set the public‑hearing date and that the item will return with more detail. "We recommend that you introduce ordinance number 12 o 8 and set a public hearing date for 11/18/2025 for consideration of adoption of ordinance number 12 o 8," King said. He added that the ordinance would take effect in alignment with the state code in 2026 and that the interim building and safety manager will provide a fuller presentation at the hearing.

Council members moved and seconded the introduction and vote and approved the motion by roll call (Aguayo, Delgadillo, Cuellar Stallings [name appears with variants in the transcript], Vice Mayor Olmos and Mayor Lemons recorded "Yes"). The public hearing is scheduled for the Nov. 18, 2025 council meeting at 4:30 p.m., when staff — including the interim building and safety manager listed in the meeting records as Sol (name appears in the transcript both as Sol Bejarano and Sol Fejarano) — will present additional details and answer technical questions.

The ordinance would update the city's building code references to match the state's 2025 California Building Code and ensure local inspection and plan‑review processes reflect the state updates. The council took no additional policy action on the item at the Oct. 28 meeting beyond setting the hearing.
