The draft schedule identifies regular BPAC duties, candidate projects for council‑priority consideration and timing windows for project study and recommendation.
Why the amendment: Commissioner Golokota moved to add a Safe Routes to School presentation in April 2026 to give the commission a more up‑to‑date look at school‑based outreach and survey results. The motion to add the presentation passed on a roll call (3 yes, 2 no, 2 absent). Subsequently the commission voted to recommend the full draft work plan — as amended — to City Council (motion passed 5 yes, 2 absent).
Staff note on feasibility: staff explained that the Safe Routes to School coordinator is a DPS position with limited bandwidth focused on in‑school activities and outreach. Commissioners acknowledged that a midyear update could add workload; the amendment asks Council to direct staff to provide the second presentation if resources and scheduling allow.
What happens next: the BPAC’s recommended 2026 work plan (including the Safe Routes amendment) will be forwarded to City Council for approval and any further direction to staff. If Council approves and allocates resources, staff will schedule the additional Safe Routes presentation and continue the project list as scripted in the work plan.
