The Fairfield City Council approved several routine and personnel items during its Nov. 18 meeting.
By unanimous roll call (7–0) the council approved a successor memorandum of understanding with the Fairfield Police Officers Association. Human Resources Director and Assistant City Manager Farbod Perusman said the agreement includes elimination of select premiums in exchange for cash payments and no cost‑of‑living adjustment as a long‑term savings measure. Council also unanimously approved a successor MOU with the Fairfield General Management Association that reduces certain vacation accruals for new hires and adjusts deferred compensation terms.
The council carried the consent calendar with a single motion and approved the second readings of two code ordinances: an update to the Building and Housing Code adopting Title 24 (2025 California Building Standards) and related parts of the California code, and amendments to the city’s Fire Code adopting the 2025 California Fire Code with local amendments. City staff said the building code update includes provisions for newly designated high‑fire areas in northern Fairfield; the fire code ordinance will take effect Jan. 1, 2026 after the second reading adoption.
