The Fairfield Planning Commission voted to continue the agendized Chick‑fil‑A development item to its December 10 meeting after city staff reported the applicant asked for more time to review conditions of approval. Staff said the applicant has met with city staff and requested the continuance to ensure the conditions are thoroughly reviewed.
City staff told the commission that because the project was noticed on the agenda the public hearing would be opened as required and then continued to the new date. “Chick fil A is just very thorough in their processes, and they just wanted a little bit more time,” a staff representative said during the agenda review.
The chair then asked for a motion to continue the item; a motion and second were made and the commission approved the continuance by voice vote. No public speakers were recorded for the Chick‑fil‑A hearing tonight.
The continuance means staff and the applicant will return with any updated materials or recommended conditions at the December 10 meeting. The continuance preserves the noticed hearing process while allowing staff additional time to finalize recommended conditions.
