Dr. Jay Africa described the prevalence of intimate‑partner violence and urged public education and destigmatization. Celeste Mercado, manager of Scribe Support Services at CORA (Community Overcoming Relationship Abuse), said CORA offers legal help, mental‑health services, emergency shelter and a 24‑hour hotline; she described a new collaboration with local law enforcement to station an advocate at the police department to support survivors through crisis response and court processes. Councilmembers thanked ALICE and CORA, acknowledged survivor advocates and law enforcement partners, and described outreach ideas — including youth education — to prevent and respond to domestic violence.
