Ada County proclaims Nov. 22, 2025, National Adoption Day; court and staff praise volunteers

The Ada County Board of Commissioners on Nov. 4 adopted a proclamation designating Nov. 22, 2025, as National Adoption Day in Ada County.
The proclamation—read into the record by a board member—calls on courts, judges, attorneys and advocates to finalize adoptions and celebrates the role of adoptive families. A motion to adopt the proclamation was moved and seconded and carried by voice vote.
An unidentified judge who spoke during the proclamation remarks thanked “all of those involved in facilitating adoptions, at court here and all of those families who open their hearts and their homes to children in need,” saying adoption day is often “one of those days that everybody involved is happy and pleased to be here.” Another speaker said 11 adoptions are scheduled for the local event and that the district has recorded 145 adoptions so far this year.
Commissioners and staff encouraged community participation and noted volunteers and court staff who help arrange adoption ceremonies. The board took a photo following the proclamation and moved on to other agenda items.
The board’s action was ceremonial; no budgetary or programmatic changes were made in this item. The county and the Fourth Judicial District are scheduled to hold local National Adoption Day activities in late November.
