Ada County commissioners voted to approve application 202501820 for Dan Sessions, allowing a corner-lot carport with a modest encroachment into the street-side setback. Richard Beck, Development Services, briefed the board that the item had been heard at a Nov. 12 public hearing, the applicant testified, and staff prepared revised documents at the board’s direction.

Commissioners noted they had not received opposition from the neighborhood and described the encroachment as limited; staff commented that the road does not currently use its full right-of-way and that sidewalks are unaffected. One commissioner said the variance moved the structure away from the primary roadway and left ample space on the lot.

After brief discussion, the board moved and approved the variance by voice vote.

What’s next: staff will finalize and sign the revised finding of impact and conclusions of law to complete the approval record.
