Albany County commissioners on Oct. 7 approved a memorandum of understanding with the City of Laramie to create a comprehensive local safety action plan as a first step in pursuing a Safe Streets for All project.
County staff explained the MOU formalizes a partnership in which both governments will contribute matching funds and a joint project team will select a contractor to develop the plan. The agreement is intended to position the county and city to pursue the Safe Streets work together; staff said the MOU does not itself authorize construction or specific project spending but establishes the governance and matching commitments needed to move forward.
Commissioners approved the MOU unanimously and staff said the next step is to identify and procure a contractor to complete the plan’s development and recommendations.
The MOU represents intergovernmental coordination on pedestrian and traffic-safety planning; county staff said the City of Laramie will put match funds toward the project and the county will do likewise.
