Ada County readies early voting sites; election office reports nearly 12,000 absentee requests

Deputy clerk Trevor (Speaker 10) briefed the Ada County Board of Commissioners on election preparations for the Nov. 4 consolidated election, saying early-voting locations will open Oct. 20 and remain operational for two weeks.
Trevor reported the county had received "just shy of about 12,000 absentee requests" and had mailed more than 8,000 ballots at the time of the Oct. 14 meeting. He noted Oct. 24 is the deadline to request an absentee ballot and reminded commissioners that roughly 160 precincts must be staffed for Election Day.
The board discussed turnout factors, including that Meridian has no contested races while other jurisdictions have ballot measures that may affect turnout. The clerk’s office indicated election-center renovations are close to completion and that staffing and equipment plans are in place for early voting and Election Day.
