Board approves high-school Europe trip after teacher reports strong student interest

"I currently have 37 students signed up to go on the trip," said Holly DeHou, who said the district used the EF travel company the district has used for nearly two decades. She described the planned 10-day itinerary to London, Paris, Venice and Rome and told board members there is a cutoff at 40 students "because that's how many you can fit on a bus before taking a second bus."
Board members asked logistical questions about past trips and student experience; members praised the opportunity for students to travel with staff and classmates. A motion to approve the trip was made by Jen and seconded by Gina; the board voted "Aye" with no opposition.
The board received three attachments with the request: the Europe trip itinerary, a parent presentation and a letter to the board. The board did not specify funding or scholarship details in the meeting packet; parents and organizers were present to answer questions.
