Planning commission shares council actions, schedules Dec. 1 tenant protections study session

At the Nov. 12 meeting staff briefed the Planning & Zoning Commission on recent City Council actions and upcoming work. Staff said the council adopted bike‑parking standards and related guidelines in September and passed residential care and residential use changes in October; the accessory dwelling unit (ADU) portion was pulled for further review.
Staff announced a City Council study session on tenant protections scheduled for Dec. 1 at 6 p.m. "It will just be one more chance for the public to have maybe a little bit more expanded time to express their views on the various aspects of tenant protections," staff said. Staff expects to bring recommendations to the council in the second meeting in January.
Commissioner Pilch also noted Berkeley’s upzoning along part of Solano Avenue and suggested the commission consider that action when implementing Albany’s housing element.
