The Albany City School District Board of Education on Nov. 6 adopted a routine consent agenda that included budget transfers and the disposal of three obsolete food‑service box trucks, and approved several vendor contracts while tabling others for additional information.
Board President Sridhar Chatur called for a motion to adopt the routine consent agenda; Miss Wilson moved and Miss Mann seconded. Board members recorded set‑aside requests for deeper review before the full slate was adopted. During discussion, board member Miss Savage asked that item 3 (budget transfers over $10,000) and item 9 (items for disposal — trucks) be considered separately.
Miss Savage moved to adopt consent item 3 approving budget transfers above $10,000. Finance staff explained those transfers reflected occasional month‑end reconciliations and reallocations (for example, salary line adjustments), and the board approved the motion unanimously. On item 9, business‑office staff said three box trucks used for food service were beyond repair and had been replaced over the summer; Miss Savage moved and Miss Wilson seconded the motion to dispose of the vehicles, which passed unanimously.
Several contracts prompted questions about data access and measurable outcomes. Board members asked why Appendix C (student‑privacy/data access) was incomplete for a doctor‑services contract and sought clearer measurable results in a professional‑development contract. Staff said some approvals (for example, data use agreements with district consultants) exist but that documentation may not be in the correct contract location. The board voted to adopt item 15 (a JRS collaboration for professional development) with a request that staff clarify instructional measurable outcomes, and to adopt the YMCA contract after HR confirmed the YMCA provides OCFS‑required fingerprinting for personnel working with students.
Other items were tabled. The KR Analytics contract (item 16) was deferred for additional review of student‑data protections; the doctor‑services contract will be revisited at a later meeting if necessary. The board noted that several votes were unanimous among the six members present.
The board also adopted revised Policy 5152 (admission of nonresident students) unanimously after brief discussion, and deferred further discussion of Policy 1120 (district records) which staff proposed to make gender‑neutral in line with state law.
What happens next: Staff will provide the missing contract appendices and clearer measurable outcomes for the board’s review; tabled items will return to a future agenda once the requested documentation is provided.
