Ottawa Road Phase 3 bid opening: Kings Construction submits lowest bid at $1.22M

• McAnany Construction (Shawnee, Kansas): base project price $708,008.92; add alternate subtotal $703,005.11; total $1,412,004.00.
• Lionel Weaver Construction (Lansing, Kansas): base $688,008.23; add alternate subtotal $666,002.70; total $1,355,094.20.
• Kings Construction (Oskaloosa, Kansas): base $619,909.02; add alternate subtotal $600,309.70; total $1,220,218.72 (lowest bid).
Speaker 3 then read the county engineering estimate from Schwab Eton: base $763,789.50; add alternate subtotal $753,561.00; total $1,517,350.50. Speaker 3 noted the Road and Bridge superintendent was out and asked that the board be given time to review the bids and discuss them at next week’s meeting.
What happens next
County staff will review the bid documents and present recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners at a subsequent meeting when the Road and Bridge superintendent is available; no contract award was made during the Oct. 7 session.
