County approves $10,500 purchase order to BG Consultants for Road & Bridge facility work

Joe Snyder, the county’s Road & Bridge superintendent, told the Atchison County Commission that a purchase order to BG Consultants for $10,500 is ready for approval as part of a larger original contract estimated at $62,800. Snyder said the county has already paid portions of the contract and that the BG work would be paused until the commission decides the overall approach for the Road & Bridge facility.
Snyder said the PO funds would come from proceeds of the Senior Village sale and that once the consultant completes the bid package, the county intends to coordinate plan review with the city. Commissioners discussed ensuring the senior-village fund would be sufficient to complete the project and noted the county has invested funds in a certificate of deposit to earn interest while planning continues.
Commissioners moved and seconded approval of the $10,500 purchase order; the motion passed by a vote of 2–0. One commissioner emphasized the desire to see a complete plan before proceeding to bid and to avoid expediting parts of the project that might not match the final scope.
