At its Oct. 27 meeting, the Ashland City Schools Board of Education approved routine consent calendars, adopted a cell phone allowance policy for specified administrators and appointed Pam Mowery to serve on the Heartland Technical Education Center Board for two meetings.
The board approved the treasurer’s consent calendar in a single motion and roll‑call vote. The board then considered a cell phone reimbursement resolution that, effective July 1, 2025, provides a $50 monthly allowance to a list of designated district administrative positions (treasurer, deputy superintendents, assistant superintendents, principals, athletic directors, maintenance supervisor, transportation supervisor, food service supervisor, technology director, software manager, attendance officer, and district nurse). The resolution requires employees receiving the allowance to register their phone account with the treasurer within 30 days; payments are made semiannually (December and June) and employees remain responsible for personal overages.
Mister Klingler explained the main update was to add an attendance officer who was previously a contracted position and had been provided a phone. "We recently hired in our own attendance officer... we’re adding her to our cell phone reimbursement policy," Klingler said. The board moved and approved the resolution by roll call.
The superintendent’s consent calendar was approved in one motion after a board member noted a typographical correction needed in a calendar year reference. The board then moved to appoint Missus Pam Mowery to the Heartland Technical Education Center (formerly JVS) Career Center Board of Education for two meetings (Nov. 20, 2025, and Dec. 18, 2025). Paramore explained the appointment fills a vacancy left by Jason Cayo and thanked Mowery for volunteering to serve for the two meetings. Missus Mowery abstained from the vote; the appointment otherwise carried.
Finally, the board voted to enter an executive session to discuss personnel matters and other matters permitted by law; the motion passed on roll call. The board adjourned to executive session with no further public action that evening.
Vote details recorded in the meeting: the agenda approval was recorded as passing 4‑0 earlier in the meeting; the appointment vote included an abstention by the appointee, Missus Mowery. Specific numerical tallies for every consent calendar vote were recorded by roll call in the transcript as unanimous where indicated.
