Atascosa County approves series of personnel moves and pay adjustments

In the sheriff’s office, Sheriff Guerra told commissioners that Nathaniel Luby and Jared Fuentes had completed county probation and recommended promotions to tier 1 corrections officer at $25.27 per hour with an 86‑hour fluctuating schedule and a $120 monthly uniform allowance, both effective Nov. 9, 2025 (salary budget 012442562). Edwin Gonzalez was moved to patrol deputy tier 1 at $28.62 per hour with the same fluctuating schedule and uniform allowance, also effective Nov. 9, 2025 (salary budget 012440410); the sheriff noted these positions are Senate Bill 22 eligible and that agency probation will continue for one year.
Road and bridge personnel actions approved included a lateral transfer for CDL driver Joe Slika from Precinct 3 to Precinct 1 at $24.23 per hour (salary budget 02140402) and hires/appointments for existing employees Jorge Roberto Velasquez ($22.63/hr), Frank Alakanes Jr. ($23.20/hr; required physical and drug test noted) and Juan Morales ($23.30/hr) in Precinct 2 (salary budget 02240402 and related codes).
All motions passed on voice votes after commissioners moved and seconded each item. The court recorded pay rates, salary budget codes and effective start dates in the minutes.
