The Marshfield Board of Public Works voted Dec. 2 to authorize staff to solicit proposals for engineering evaluation and design work on the Lincoln Avenue wastewater lift station.
Mike Plamey, identified in the agenda as waste wastewater treatment superintendent, told the board the Lincoln Avenue lift station at 605 North Lincoln Avenue was built in 1979 and serves a large area in the city's northwest quadrant. He said the station received a partial rehabilitation in 2013 for failing pumps and a leaky force main and that staff now recommends completing the rehabilitation, beginning with an evaluation and design process that will identify needs and cost-effective solutions. Anticipated work includes replacing the generator, replacing electrical controls, and updating building deficiencies.
Plamey said the project is in the city's CIP for engineering design in 2026 and construction in 2027 under project number cited in the meeting as '6 017412' with an estimated total cost of $1,200,000. He said the project will be paid for from wastewater reserves in the 601 account, funded through sewer use fees rather than the city's general tax base.
A motion to approve the RFP and authorize staff to solicit proposals was made, seconded and carried by voice vote. The meeting transcript records ayes but does not include a roll-call or numerical vote tally. Staff did not identify a required completion date for the solicitation during the discussion.
Next steps are to issue the RFP and return results to the board for selection of a design consultant and any required contract actions.
