The Acadia Parish School Board received policy committee recommendations and approved several routine items affecting student services and community representation.
The committee recommended sending the AMI Kids Acadiana contract for 2025–26 to the full board for approval. An AMI representative told the board the program currently serves 34 students and thanked the board and special education staff for support: "We have done a whole lot this year...and we will keep on getting these young men in our program and try to turn them back around," the representative said. The motion to send the contract to the full board carried by voice vote.
Separately, the board approved additional community representatives to serve on the Head Start Policy Council for the 2025–26 program year. The board also moved and approved a proclamation declaring Attendance Awareness Month based on a policy committee recommendation.
Each item was approved by voice vote; board members thanked the community providers and emphasized continuity of services.
