Acadia Parish board approves student travel to national conventions and performances

The Acadia Parish School Board on Sept. 2 approved three out-of-state travel requests for student groups.
Crowley High School’s FFA chapter was authorized to attend the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis from 10/27/2025 through 11/01/2025 to accept a three‑star chapter award. ‘‘We are a three‑star chapter in Louisiana and will be accepting this award at the convention,’’ said Kennedy Smith, Crowley FFA chapter vice president. Fellow officer Madison Benoit, chapter secretary, described recent state competition results that qualified the chapter for national recognition.
The board also approved Rain High School Emergency Medical and Biology students’ visit to the Houston Health Museum on 10/23/2025. The motion carried by voice vote after a board member seconded the request.
Finally, the policy committee’s recommendation to send Midland High School’s out-of-state travel request to the full board was approved. Midland representatives (including Crystal) said the revived dance program has performed locally and has been invited to perform at Disney World in April 2026 as part of a Disney audition program; the travel dates appear in the agenda as 04/06/2026 to 04/01/2026 (as presented). The Midland team said chaperones and fundraising are in place.
Board members moved and approved each trip by voice vote. The approvals allow student leaders and staff to arrange transportation, chaperones and fundraising in accordance with district policy.
