Unidentified Speaker 2 announced that the Asheville Regional HOME Consortium has posted its 2025–26 HOME application on the participating jurisdiction's website and that the application deadline is Dec. 10. Staff said the HOME allocation covers Buncombe, Henderson, Madison and Transylvania counties and listed the program's eligible budget categories: down-payment assistance, homeowner rehabilitation, tenant-based rental assistance and CHDO administrative/operating funds.
"The city has posted to the online application on their website, and they've already done some information sessions with an application deadline of December 10," Unidentified Speaker 2 said. Staff added that once applications close the Consortium will begin making funding recommendations in January and that Buncombe County staff will participate in that recommendation process prior to final approval by the participating jurisdiction's council.
Why it matters: The HOME program is a federal-source funding stream administered locally through the Consortium; deadlines and application materials determine which local nonprofits and developers can apply for housing assistance and project funding in the coming program year.
Next steps: Interested applicants should consult the Consortium's posted materials and attend information sessions; staff expects review and recommendation activity to begin in January and to return funding recommendations to the participating jurisdiction later in the process.
