Bay County commission approves consent items: bonds, contracts, procurement and reports

At its Oct. 7 Committee of the Whole meeting, the Bay County Board approved a series of routine consent and business items. Actions approved included designation of the county Office of Soil Erosion and Sediment Control as the county enforcing agency and a civil engineer reclassification; approval of Michigan Transportation Fund bonds series 2025 for the Bay County Road Commission; FY2026 township road patrol contracts; a W I reimbursement addition to the sheriff's fee schedule; drain commissioner 2025 assessment rules; Medicaid care coordination agreements for the local health department; tuition reimbursement for Jason McCoolan; a mosquito control budget adjustment and replacement truck; and use of a Health Department conference room as a polling location for certain elections.

The board also approved purchasing notifications and bid releases for the Bay County Pool Facility design professional, an assessment of juvenile home financials, and a lounge advertising lease agreement. Several reports were received, including an analysis of general fund equity (2025) and the Office of Assigned Counsel's August 2025 report. All listed motions were moved, supported and carried by voice vote on Oct. 7.

Commissioners clarified that early voting will remain at the community center for the August election and is not required for non-statewide special elections. There were no public comments during the budget hearing portion of the meeting, and no referrals or unfinished business was reported before adjournment.
