Bay County committee approves wide range of contracts, grants and renewals

The board approved an Emergency Management FY2023 HSGP grant to purchase LED signs for the sheriff’s office; renewal or new agreements for professional liability insurance for the public defender’s office; a CASA contract for probate/juvenile court services; the Childcare Fund annual plan and budget for 2025–26; an AP contract for 2025–26; a marijuana operation and oversight grant for the health officer; a certified lactation consultant agreement for 2026; the Eagle Grant for 2025; a medical examiner RFQ (see separate article for discussion of compensation); renewal of My Community Dental Centers’ agreement for 2025–26; an MDARD welfare grant for 2025; a Michigan State University community veterinary medicine program agreement; a Department of Aging purchase-of-service agreement for 2025–26; township items for Williams, Caw Cawin and Hampton townships for 2026; a lease for a recreation snack shop; renewals of employee benefit contracts including Medicare Advantage and Delta Dental; an occupational health contract with Covenant for 2025; employee health care contribution rates for 2026; a Legal Shield renewal; acceptance of a finance report on general-fund equity; receipt of an update on Executive Directive 2007-11; approval of general payables; renewal with MMRMA for 2026; and receipt of the Office of Assigned Counsel’s September 2025 report.
Most motions were moved, supported and adopted by voice vote with no recorded opposition.
What happens next: Approved contracts and grants will proceed to implementation by county staff and respective departments, subject to the terms of each agreement. The medical examiner RFQ and several program contracts include separate implementation or procurement steps handled by county administration.
