Council approves scaffold and utility permits, amends calendar and accepts donation

Mary Mulrony, speaking for National Grid, said the work replaces leak-prone pipe and that National Grid will coordinate with town utility pre-construction work. The council approved the detailed relay plan (specific lengths and pipe materials were recited in the motion) with DPW and police conditions.
The council also acknowledged that one National Grid petition (Order 25067) had been withdrawn at the DPW meeting and approved a motion to withdraw it from the agenda.
On a separate procedural item, the council discussed a March scheduling conflict and agreed to move a March 17 meeting to March 18 in the 2026 council calendar; the amended calendar was adopted by unanimous vote.
During new business the council approved same-night action to accept a gift of 10 padded chairs from the Chinese American Association of Braintree to the Department of Elder Affairs under the statutory acceptance provision cited in the motion (M.G.L. c.44, §53A½). Finance staff described the donation as useful for departmental operations.
All permits, votes and the donation acceptance were recorded as unanimous voice votes in the transcript. The council referred one additional item to the Ways & Means committee before adjourning.
